Tokyo shifted its bid to host the Summer 2016 Olympics into higher gear Sunday by temporarily closing the city's landmark highway bridge to let 5,000 people march to promote the Japanese capital. On Sunday Tokyo temporarily closed the city's landmark highway bridge to let 5,000 people march to promote the Japanese capital. The seven-kilometre (four-mile) walk over the Rainbow Bridge featured Japanese athletes who are helping to promote Tokyo's bid to host the global event for the second time. Some 70 percent of the venues, 23 of which already exist, are within 10 minutes of the athletes' village.
